Professional and compliant installation
We carefully position and install your new oil tank in the most suitable location, helping you make the best use of the available space. And of course, you’ll want to make sure your new oil tank also complies with current legislation. Regulations imposed on oil tank installations are for your benefit as an oil tank leak is very costly to clean up. Oil leaks are also an environmental hazard.
Our engineers are OFTEC registered, so your new oil tank will be installed safely, correctly and in compliance with current regulations.
There is an explanation of single-skinned and bunded tanks here.
Metal oil tank inspection
If you have an older, metal oil tank it may need replacing, see Does my oil tank need replacing? Condensation can cause steel oil tanks to corrode from the inside. So you may not know there’s a problem until it’s too late and it begins to leak. We recommend inspecting your oil tank and its base every year to identify potential issues early, helping you prevent leaks, avoid costly repairs and maintain a safe, reliable oil storage system.
Book an oil tank inspection
Even modern oil tanks can develop issues that are not immediately obvious without a professional inspection. That’s why it’s important to choose an experienced, OFTEC-registered professional at the start, who follows current regulations and industry best practices, as well as using an OFTEC-qualified professional to conduct a regular oil tank inspection because minor issues can develop into more serious and costly problems over time. This can lead to a need for re-installation or even replacement. Make sure you book an annual oil tank inspection once you have a new tank!

Frequently asked questions – FAQs
Here are some of the questions we are often asked about new oil tanks. If you can’t find the answer you’re looking for then get in touch with us – we’ll be happy to help!
How long does a tank installation take?
Tank installations typically take between one and two days. They can often be done in one day if the tank is going onto an existing base or a slab base. If we have to pour a new concrete base then this takes time to set, so we will have to come back on a second day once the concrete has set to place the new tank on it. But we’ll let you know in advance.
What size oil tank do I need?
This depends on the amount of oil your property typically uses, delivery access and available space. When we come out to survey your site, we’ll recommend the right size and type of tank for your household – there’s no one-size-fits-all answer. But we’ll provide a free, no obligation survey for you so you know what’s best for you.
Do I need planning permission for a new oil tank?
In most cases, no – but there are rules around tank position, distance from boundaries and buildings, and fire protection that must be followed. Don’t worry, our OFTEC-qualified engineers make sure every installation meets current building regulations and oil storage legislation. So you don’t need to worry about the technical side of things – we’ll take care of that!
Can I get a bunded tank, and do I need one?
A bunded tank has a built-in second skin to contain any leaks. We’ll advise on the right choice for your specific property during the survey.
